Elevate your reports with Looker Studio Scorecard Improvements

Looker Studio scorecard improvements is a new function in the tool that appeared in May 2023.

To show you an example, I will use a Google Analytics 4 Demo account. 

Creating a scorecard

We need to select a scorecard and add it on the canvas. I usually select border colors and pull down the lower part of the scorecard so that we have empty space inside. What are the new settings of the scorecards?

• Sparkline. It is a really nice and time-saving function. I used to create a scorecard and try to fit the sparkline in. To add a sparkline we need to add a time dimension. Besides that you can add a comparison date range.
• Other comparison options. This function means that you can compare the scorecard with manually input values, metrics or periods. For example, when we compare with a value, you input the number you wanted to reach and the scorecard will reflect whether you reached the goal or not. Moreover, you can present it not only as a sparkline but also as a progress line, which is quite useful for KPIs. Talking about metric comparison, you can compare a New users scorecard to All Users metric. Consequently, you will see how many percent are new users from all users. Finally, comparing it with a custom period is a great and handy function as well.
