Looker Studio template overview: unify UA & GA4 and 12-month forecast

Looker Studio template overview: unify UA & GA4 and 12-month forecast

Today I would like to make an overview of one of my Looker Studio templates called UA & GA4 Users and Transactions 12-month trends. It is not universal and applicable to every business but it is a rather interesting dashboard that may be suitable for you! You can find it in my template store. Keep reading to know more about it!
In case you prefer video-format, here is a video-tutorial! Enjoy!

Looker Studio template structure

First of all, this template consists only of 1 page and it is pretty easy to understand. In the header of the report there is a logo (which you can replace with yours or simply delete), a title of the report and a date range picker. I have divided the report by sections so let’s take a look at the first one, that, basically, contains the dashboard’s main KPIs.

Last month’s key metrics

That is the name of the first section. Here we can see scorecards with a sparkline that helps showing the dynamics of the metric. Among metrics we have Users, New Users, Transactions, Revenue, Conversion Rate and Average Revenue. Similarly, you can see the arrows that compare the performance to the previous period.

Trends by quarters

In this section we have a separate time series chart for each of the metrics thus we can spectate the actual performance and see a prediction. Arrows in the right upper corner allow us to switch from the quarters to months or even days. Besides this, I’ve enabled optional metrics that let you present separately each of the metrics or all together (of your choice).

Detailed data month by month

This section consists of a table with detailed information. As our date range is the previous month (May), the data for the current month (June) will not be full. Consequently, all the data until June 2023 is factual, the further months’ data is predicted.
This template is based on the Google Sheets tables, so let’s take a look!

Looker Studio template back-end. Google Sheets

The Google Sheets you receive after buying the template has a lot of tabs with a lot of data, whereas the template looks pretty easy, right?

The very first tab is Help tab, which contains an instruction of working with the Sheets and connecting it to the Looker Studio. Pay attention to the yellow cells on the tabs Report Configuration and GA4 Reports configuration – you need fill them with your data.

To fill the fields with your data from UA and GA4 you may need connectors – there is step by step instruction in the Help tab. To install an add-on, click “Extensions” – “Add-ons” – “Get add-ons” and find the appropriate ones in the search. Using the add-ons and inputting your data to the tables will quickly pull up your data from UA and GA4.
The data pulled from the UA and GA4 cannot be simply connected to the Looker Studio, so I created other tabs where this data is being transformed.

Here is the tab where the data from UA and GA4 is merged and ready to be connected to Looker Studio.
